Lady Eagles Stake Third at Lady Viking Holiday Tournament

Despite only having seven wrestlers compete at the Lady Viking Holiday Tournament in Springfield, the Lady Eagles earned a 3rd place team trophy.

Sophomores Haley Brooks and Macey Greene led the way for the Lady Eagles. Both earned first-place finishes in the tournament at their respective weights (110lbs and 115lbs). The duo combined for 58.5 team points and both earned come-from-behind victories in the semifinal round.

Senior MaReya May continued her solid season with a second-place finish in the 130lbs bracket. She added three more falls in the tournament before falling in the championship match.

Fellow senior, Faithann Brown, earned a 4th place finish in the 100lb weight. Brown dropped a close 7-3 decision in the third-place bout but wrestled well on the day.

State-placer, Charlie Gregg, ended her tournament early due to illness in the semifinals. Before falling ill, Gregg went 3-0 with three falls in pool play and her first-round bracket match.

Sophomores Bobbie Diibon and Clara Ferguson both earned wins in the tournament and contributed to the 118 team points for Holden.

The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, January 5th at the Butler Girls Tournament.
