Lady Eagles Edge Warrensburg In Home Opener

The Lady Eagles won their fourth dual of the young season by edging Warrensburg 36-30 in Holden Wednesday evening. The Lady Eagles won 5 of 6 matches with two opens sprinkled in to accumulate their 36 points.

Starting at the 125lb weight class, Avee Bevans put the Lady Eagles in an early hole with a fall over freshman wrestler Mila Turpin.

MaReya May started the fireworks with an entertaining 18-16 back-and-forth decision win over Avah Hall. May scored four takedowns, three nearfall sets, and one reversal in the 130lb match to get the close decision.

Senior Charlie Gregg and Sophomore Clara Ferguson both won by fall in the 140 and 145-pound classes.

After a run of opens from both sides, the Lady Eagles found themselves down 30-21 going into the final three weight classes of the dual.

Sophomore Haley Brooks started the comeback with a second-round fall over Lexi Ilnicky to close the gap to 27-30.

In the 115-pound match, sophomore Ady Yoder secured the dual win with a tight 3-2 decision win over Cerrisa Holsey.

The open slot for Warrensburg at the 120lb class pushed the final score to 36-30. Bobbie Diibon and Macey Greene both earned wins with opens in the dual.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to the Marceline Tournament.
